Del Water Gap Chased The Chimera to Portland, OR

Del Water Gap has had a successful career as an indie musician, working with fellow artists Samia, Maggie Rodgers, and Holly Humberstone, but is finally getting the big-stage recognition he deserves, attracting a devoted following after joining Niall Horan on tour in 2024 and Halsey in 2025. The New York native ended 2025 with the release of his third studio album, Chasing The Chimera, and has begun the new year with a bang on his solo North American tour. Portland’s Crystal Ballroom’s stage was lined with billowing white fabric as Del Water Gap entered the stage with black eye makeup, fan-made bracelets, and a trench coat. Del Water Gap reciprocates his fans’ excitement at his shows by interacting with them wholeheartedly, even embroidering on a sewing machine during his single Damn to then hand it to a fan on the barricade. Bracelets and posters were strew onto the stage before he joined his fans in the pit during his song Perfume, the iconic action since recieving the name of “Perfume pit,” something he has done since his early days of touring. The show ended in a haze of smoke and sweat as fans waiting outside till 1am to meet him. Words and photos by Paige Fulkerson
